Two Recipes for Cool Drinks that are good for Your Heart

Tofu orange blender drink
Makes 4 servings

 

One of the best-tasting and easiest ways to use tofu, this drink is great for breakfast or a snack. Tofu contains protein, folacin, iron and zinc.

 

Ingredients

300 g (10 oz) tofu (about 1 package)
250 mL (1 cup) frozen orange juice concentrate
375 mL (1 1⁄2 cups) water
1 ripe banana

 

Directions

1. In blender or food processor, combine tofu, orange juice, water and banana.
2. Blend until smooth.

4. Cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day; stir before serving.

 

 


Minted green iced tea
Makes 4 servings

 

This is a very refreshing drink that is sugar-free and very low in calories. Enjoy it instead of sweetened iced tea as a perfect summer beverage.
 

Ingredients

3 green tea bags, regular or decaffeinated
5 whole cloves
1 lime sliced
5 mint leaves
5 cups (1.25 L) boiling water
1 cup (250 mL) cold water
Sliced limes and mint leaves to serve

 

Directions

1. Place the tea bags, cloves, lime and mint leaves in a tea pot.
2. Add boiling water and steep for 5 minutes.
3. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool. About 20-30 minutes.
4. Strain into a pitcher, removing the tea bags, cloves, lime and mint. Add cold water and refrigerate until cold.
5. Serve over ice. Top with a slice of lime and a mint leaf.
